The Sea Eagle 10.6 sr Sport Runabout is a lightweight, versatile inflatable boat that’s ideal as a yacht tender or for fishermen who need a bit more in the performance department.
The 10.6sr is the brain-child of Sea Eagle Boats — a family-owned business that’s been in business since 1968. Sea Eagle has an excellent track record when it comes to safety, durability, and versatility.
The Sea Eagle Sport Runabout line has been around since 1997, and these boats have been used all over the world, including on the Yangtze River and the Indian Subcontinent as fire and rescue boats. Other countries have also used this versatile inflatable boat range for Fire and Rescue, and with good reason — these boats have a proven track record of being able to quickly travel long distances, even on stormy seas.
In this Sea Eagle 10.6sr review, we’ll go over the top features, pros and cons, options, warranty coverage, and more.

Sea Eagle 10.6sr Review: Boat Overview
When inflated, the Sea Eagle 10.6sr’s dimensions are 126″ x 65″. This broad beam (width, for those not familiar with boat-speak) allows for excellent stability — making the Sea Eagle 10.6 sr a great choice for fishermen, yacht owners in need of a tender, and general boating enthusiasts.
The 10.6sr’s stability doesn’t come at the cost of weight, either. With the inflatable floor, the Sea Eagle’s 10’6″ Sport Runabout weighs only 90 pounds. When equipped with solid plastic floorboards, the boat’s weight jumps up to 123 pounds — still not bad.
When it comes to load capacity, the 10.6sr can take care of business. The boat is capable of carrying up to five people with a max weight capacity of 1199 pounds, and it has a 86″ x 33″ interior that provides a comfortable trip for all passengers.
The tubes of the Sea Eagle 10.6sr inflate to a diameter of about 17″, and the boat features up to five air chambers (port, starboard, bow, keel, and drop stitch floor). The inflatable keel is awesome, as it slices through the water and allows for precision control.
The Sea Eagle 10.6sr inflatable boat is also extremely durable. It’s made of a super tough, reinforced 1100 Decitex. The seams are double overlapped and bonded with 98% high frequency welding and a high strength glue finish.
The lower halves of the 10.6sr’s tubes also have an extra layer added to protect against abrasion and punctures. To further protect the boat’s hull, there is a 3″ rubbing strake all around. There’s also a 4″ rubbing strake to protect the keel.
The 10.6sr’s inflatable keel combined with its large, rounded rear tubes allows for easier planing, which means that this inflatable boat goes over waves instead of through them.
The ideal engine rating for this boat is 15HP, giving the 10.6sr a nippy 18 mph top speed with two adult passengers, or 12 mph when carrying four adults.
It also has transom splash guards, two stainless steel D-rings for use when towing the boat, four rear carry handles, and a front lift handle for easy carrying. There are also pop-up oarlocks for easy use when rowing, a 5/8″ grab line along the boat’s sides for safety, and an automatically bailing drain valve.
The 10.6sr comes with the option to either have an inflatable drop stitch floor, or one made of molded polyethylene floorboards. Both come with their own advantages.
The inflatable floor gives great stability to the 10.6SR, but at a fraction of the weight. This option also gives the boat the ability to fold up to half the size, which makes this the perfect boat for stowing in your yacht or camper van. It sets up easily, and you won’t have to fuss with trailers whenever you want to take the boat out — just throw the carry bag in your trunk and you’re off.
The molded polyethylene floorboards option gives the boat extra rigidity and turns the 10.6sr into an ideal fishing boat for both freshwater and sea conditions.
Who is the Sea Eagle 10’6″ Sport Runabout Best For?
Anyone in need of an easy to use, easy to set up boat will enjoy the Sea Eagle 10.6sr. Boating enthusiasts in search of something easy, skin-divers, fishermen and yacht owners in search of a tender — all of these will enjoy the 10.6sr.
Apartment dwellers, people with RV motorhomes, and other space-challenged individuals will also love this boat.
The choice between a high pressure inflatable floor and hard plastic floorboards means you can choose between a small packing footprint, or a boat that offers increased rigidity. Fishermen who like standing while fishing will appreciate the latter.
The patented inflatable exterior keel makes it easier to plane the 10.6sr over choppy waves rather than through them. The keel also allows for precision steering, and puts this boat in another league when compared with its inflatable competitors. The 10.6sr offers more control and an increased ability to make tight turns — ideal if you need to steer into and out of congested harbors and docks.
It’s also very easy to set up. With the inflatable floor, you only need about 15 minutes to inflate the 10.6sr to get it operational. The plastic floor takes about 10 minutes longer. In addition, the Sea Eagle 10’6″ Sport Runabout packs down to just 46″ x 24″ x 10″. With floorboards, it adds another 40″ x 31″ x 4″ . This means that even with the floorboards included, you’re going to struggle to find a boat as easy to store and inflate as the Sea Eagle 10.6sr.

The patented inflatable exterior keel ensures easy control and precision steering, which makes it the perfect tender from your yacht to the nearest harbor — especially if it happens to be highly congested.
More than that, the 10.6sr handles long distance trips on the ocean in good weather and bad like a champ — making it a wonderful addition to the saltwater fisherman’s set of tools.
